What's On: Competitions
Bike Dartmoor TrailQuest – Use the skills you have learned in the specially run workshops to locate special places around the new Forest for the chance to win guided weekend rides around the stunning Dartmoor area.
Long XC Race - This race is aimed at 12 year olds and above. It will use the specially marked XC trail. The race categories will be: 12-14, 14-18, Fun, Open, Single Speed, Race Whippets.
Short XC Race - This race is aimed at 12 year olds and above. It will use the specially marked XC trail. The race categories will be: 12-14, 14-18, Fun, Open, Single Speed, Race Whippets.
3 Lap Night Ride - This race is aimed at 12 year olds and above. It will use the specially marked XC trail. The race categories will be: 12-14, 14-18, Fun, Open, Single Speed, Race Whippets.
Childrens Challenge - This race is aimed at 12 year olds and below. It will use the specially marked short XC trail.The race categories will be: Under 7, Over 7.
Drag Race - This will be a simple sprint race held on a straight course riding up the main field. The categories will be: Under 12s, Under 18, Under 35, Over 35.
Tractor Tyre Drag - This will be similar to the Drag Race except there will be a tractor tyre being dragged behind the bikes. The categories will be: Under 12s, Under 18, Under 35, Over 35.
Track Stand Competitions -
what is this?
This event involves the riders balancing stationary on their bikes for as long as possible. There will be two categories: Under 12s, Over 12s.
Wheelie Competitions -
what is this?
This involves the riders trying to maintain a wheelie for as long as possible along a straight grass course. There will be two categories: Under 12s, Over 12s.
Trailer Bike Challenge - This involves people with trailer bikes (tag-alongs) negotiating a course through cones as quickly as possible without hitting any cones. The trailer bike must have a child on at all times to qualify.
Bunny Hop -
what is this?
This is the high jump for bikes and involves people trying to bunny hop over a bamboo cane. There will be two categories: Under 12s, Over 12s.
Puncture Fixing Competitions -
The competitors will be given a wheel with a flat tyre. They will need to take the tyre off, fix the puncture, refit the tyre and inflate the tyre. There will be two categories: Under 12s, Over 12s.
Slalom - How fast can they ride the course between the trees/cones? There will be two categories: Under 12s, Over 12s.
Bike Limbo - How low a bar can you ride under?
Pint to Pint Racing – Inspired by Point to Point riding but with beer (Over 18s only).
